What is happening?
Beginning in July this year, Microsoft will no longer support SQL Server 2012. SQL Server is the database software used by Monsoon Marketplace servers, as well as many other applications.
What does this mean for you?
If you are using SQL Server 2012 or and older version (2008, 2005) on your Monsoon Marketplace server, you’ll be putting yourself at risk for security issues and compatibility problems once the software is unsupported. Updating your version of SQL Server is free for most users.
What do you need to do?
Find out what you have
First, determine which version of SQL Server you’re using on your Monsoon server.
If you’re using any of the following versions (Express or Professional/Developer), you’ll need to update:
- SQL Server 2005
- SQL Server 2008
- SQL Server 2012
Upgrade your SQL version
SQL Server installations are generally safe, but it’s important that your database is backed up before you make any changes to the infrastructure it lives in. Our Support team can help you back up your data if you need it, and provide guidance about SQL Server versions. Learn how to back up your data.
We recommend SQL Server 2016 if possible, as it will offer some new functionality as well as not need to be updated again for some time.
