I am receiving the error " An error occurred printing order ____. This order will not be printed." when I try to print an Alibris order.
The most common reason for Alibris orders not to print is that the User Account Control (UAC) setting is turned on, or your Windows user permissions are not allowing Monsoon to access the folder that contains packing slips.
If you are using Windows 7 operating systems, please make sure that UAC is turned off in order to print Alibris orders. The easiest way to turn UAC off is from the Control Panel.
1. Click Start and then open Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety (go directly to step 3 if you do not see this option).
3. Click User Accounts.
4. Click Turn User Account Control on or off or Change User Account Control settings.
5. Clear the tick or check mark on the box beside the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer option or slide the bar all the way down to Never Notify.
6. Click OK.
7. When prompted, restart the computer. Note that the changes will affect all users on the computer.
After rebooting, retry printing the Alibris order.
If you are using Windows 8, then the UAC cannot be turned off. However, there are a couple different options that will allow you to work around it:
1. When you open Monsoon, instead of just double-clicking the icon to open it normally, you will want to right-click on the Monsoon icon and then at the bottom of the screen select "Run as Administrator". This will allow you to print your Alibris orders.
2. The other option is to modify the Windows user permissions for the Monsoon folder that contains packing slips - the folder in question will be C:\ProgramData\Monsoon. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder, choose Properties, click the Security tab, and make sure all users allow "Full Control."
You can either modify the permissions for specific users to allow "full control", or you can add a new user called "everyone" that has full control. Either way should allow you to print your Alibris packing slips, whether or not you are running the software as an administrator.
